JOEMC has been installing additional equipment to our transmission lines in our continued effort to provide reliable electric service to our members. This equipment allows the co-op to isolate sections of the faulted transmission lines, which helps expedite restoration time if an outage occurs. To safely commission this new equipment, we need to have a planned outage in the early morning of May 17, 2024. The outage is scheduled to begin at midnight and should be completed by 4 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024.
The outage will affect members served by five substations: Bridge, Percy Jenkins, Sneads Ferry, Wheeler Creek, and Chadwick Acres. The entire Sneads Ferry area will be affected, as will services along New River Inlet Road in North Topsail Beach and Island Drive to the Surf City town limits.
Our automated phone system will send a reminder call to those members who are a part of the planned outage the day before. Additionally, a reminder email will be sent to members who have provided us with an email address.
