Don’t Dig Up Trouble This Spring — Call 811 First!

Spring is here, and many members are heading outside to start projects like planting trees, installing fences, building decks, or landscaping their yards. Before you start digging, take an important step to protect yourself, your property, and your community—call 811 first.

Underground utility lines for electricity, gas, water, internet, and other essential services run beneath many yards. Accidentally hitting one of these lines while digging can cause serious injuries, expensive repairs, and service outages for your home and neighbors.

Calling 811 before you dig is quick, easy, and completely free. When you contact 811 a few days before your project begins, utility companies will mark the approximate location of underground lines on your property so you can dig safely.

Even small projects like planting a shrub or installing a mailbox can hit a buried utility line. That’s why it’s important to think before you dig—no matter how big or small the job may seem.

This spring, make safety part of every outdoor project.

Call 811 before you dig and help keep our community safe.
