Outage Text Alerts – Stay Informed When the Power Goes Out

JOEMC does not charge for outage text alerts; standard messaging rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

How it Works

  1. Detect an Outage: We monitor the grid and detect when an outage occurs in your area.
  2. Receive SMS Updates: You get automatic text alerts with outage information and updates
  3. Confirm Your Status: Reply “Outage” to let us know if you’re still without power
  4. Power Restored: Once  service is restored, we send a final update so you are informed.

If you don’t wish to receive outage text alerts:

  • Reply ‘STOP’ to any alert message.
  • You will immediately be unsubscribed from the service.
  • Standard carrier messaging rates no longer apply once you opt out.

Tip: You can re-enroll anytime by texting ‘JOIN’ or call our office at 910-353-1940 and they can re-enroll you over the phone.

How do I sign up for text alerts?

If your mobile number is on file with JOEMC, you’re automatically enrolled. To manually register, click the Sign Up / Re-Enroll button and follow the prompts.

Update your phone number in your account or re-enroll using the Sign Up / Re-Enroll form to continue receiving alerts.

Yes. If the same number is associated with multiple accounts, you may receive a message asking you to manually register each account.

  • OUTAGE → Report if your power is out.
  • STATUS → Request the current outage status in your area.
  • STOP → Opt out of alerts.
